The whole hip hop culture

Started in 2005, HIP Opsession is one of the major European festivals entirely dedicated to the hip hop culture. Organized by Pick Up Production, it gathers as most local actors as possible in order to enhance the hip hop culture through all its disciplines : music (rap, Djing, human beatbox, beatmaking…), dance (break, pop, lock, house…) and visual arts (graffiti, photography, video).

During two weeks, almost 50 events organized in twenty venues of the city and its conurbation, participate in making Nantes the place to be when it comes to hip hop : concerts, dance shows, battles, exhibitions, conferences, projections… The event gathers about 20 000 people each year.

The festival is focused on a curious and opened line-up, blending emblematic figures with recent discoveries, local and foreign artists, promoting original and innovating shows as well. The Battle Opsession, which is the flagship event of the festival, gathers 200 dancers for two days in the Lieu Unique. Its artistic quality and its atmosphere make it one of the most popular battles in the world.

Beyond the concerts, battles or shows, Pick Up Production intends to make the Hip Opsession festival a powerful vector for social and cultural boundaries. Many other actions are organized in collaboration with the associations, the artists and the public, in order to facilitate the access for everybody.
